Abstract
EVIDENCE-BASED ANSWER Turmeric (curcumin) improves knee osteoarthritis pain slightly more than placebo, an effect similar to ibuprofen, diclofenac, and glucosamine (SOR: A, meta-analysis of RCTs). Turmeric in combination with Boswellia may be as effective as celecoxib for improving knee osteoarthritis pain, tenderness, walking distance, crepitus, swelling, and range of motion (SOR: C, small RCT).
