Abstract
Considerable enthusiasm has recently appeared for the application of the fairly simple technique of EEA stapling (transection and reanastomosis) of the distal portion of the esophagus in patients with esophageal variceal hemorrhage. Technical aspects and practical considerations in the application of this technique have been discussed herein. We have found that the indications for this technique are extremely limited.
